Sears Home Repair - A Refuge for Men in the Mall
On rainy weekends it's common to to take a family trip to the mall and the shops are prepared for it. From small boutiques that just sell a few pieces of one designer’s brand to anchor stores that have hundreds of things, the mall has everything from the most chic kitchen accessories to the cutest kids’ clothes to gadgets, perfume and everything else in between.
One thing most stores also have is a chair or two which is often occupied by a man - waiting. Sometimes a man has is at the mall to watch a movie or eat but often he's the bewildered partner of the woman or kids. And there to accompany them. It's an uncomfortable feeling standing awkwardly in a little shop full of dainty clothes, holding a purse. So, some stores at least give him a chair to wait on. But if the mall has a Sears, chances are it also has a Sears home improvement center, so things aren't so bad.
Sears and Roebuck
Sears has been in business for more than a hundred years. It has made sales in catalogs and in stores. They have carried petticoats, plows and whole houses in the past. Today they still supply what the average family needs or would like and the Sears home repair is no exception.
The Sears home improvement center sells almost anything you need to make household repairs, fix things up, or even work on the car. Even if the man in question is not much of a handyman, the store also has lawnmowers, grills and plenty of other outdoor gadgets.
It is set up somewhat different from the usual mall stores. While customers can browse, for example, the Sears home repair center is also easy to get in and out of. It is always positioned by an outside door with nearby parking so people on actual business can come in and out quickly. But there are enough things to browse through if you or a companion do not exactly care about clothes or perfume.
There is no reason why a trip to the mall should necessarily be a bore for anyone. Somewhere, in some corner of the mall, is something for most people. Even for those who do not enjoy buying things there will be a friendly bookstore or coffee shop.
