Choosing The Right Swimming Pool Supplies

There are many different types of swimming pool supplies that you need to keep your pool both clean and safe. Some supplies are for comfort, convenience or fun, while others are to keep your pool water free of bacteria.

Keeping swimming pool water crystal clear and free of algae requires more than just chlorine. You actually need several types of chemicals that work together to keep the pH level in your pool at it's safest.

Chlorine works to prevent algae growth and kill bacteria and microscopic germs. Algaecides will also keep algae from growing both in the water and on the walls of the pool. Water Clarifying Algaecides work with the chlorine to ensure you get the best results.

Having the correct swimming pool filter for your type and size of pool is just as important as the proper chemical balance. Keeping the water clean is much more than just killing and preventing bacteria and algae, dead bugs and other debris must be filtered out of the water.

There are basically three types of swimming pool filters used today. The most commonly known is probably the cartridge type filter. A properly maintained cartridge will last from three to five years and can simply be cleaned and reused with high pressure water.

The next most common is a sand filter, a special type of sand is used to trap all any particles in the water. A Diatomaceous Earth filter uses fossilized skeletons of micro organisms and will remove even the smallest molecules from the pool water.

The most important part of maintaining clean water is the swimming pool pump. Proper chemical balance and an excellent filter can't keep the water clean if the pump isn't circulating the water at the proper levels.

The pool pump that you purchase should be able to circulate all of the water contained in the pool at least once every 12 hours. The pump will also filter out pieces of debris such as leaves, that are too large for the filter.

Replacement swimming pool liners have really evolved into a thing of beauty over the years. They're no longer just to keep water in the pool, they're designed to add beauty and elegance to the pool as well.

There are two main styles of pool liners, the over lapping type and a beaded type. The overlap pool liner fold over the pool edge and are held in place with clips, while the beaded type liner snaps into a track under the pool rail. They also vary in size and shape to match the size of your pool. So if your pool is 30 foot oval a 15 ft round liner is not going to fit. Make sure you buy the right size.

Modern swimming pool liners are designed to allow you to customize the look of your pool. There are many designs available that allow you to create the look of tile, pebbles and much more.

You can even create an under sea world in your pool with liners covered in tropical fish and a coral reef. Most liners are now available in either 20 or 25 gauge vinyl to provide years of use.
