How I can find out about Home Repair Grants?
There are millions of people who are looking to improve the look of their homes. Some homeowners want to increase the value so they can sell it and others are trying to just keep up on the maintenance.
Home repair grants are provided to help homeowners make their homes habitable and there are a number of different kinds. Since these grants are given through local, state and even federal agencies, the requirements are almost the same. In most cases:
~ You must be 18 years and older
~ You must be a United States Citizen (although each agency is different)
~ You must have home repair problems
~ You must be a low income household and possibly have bad credit
The process of obtaining a home repair grant can often be time consuming but there are some that are available in an emergency such as if you have a hole in your roof or you have electrical hazards that need sortinbg out.
Each state has different agencies that you can contact which can be found by visiting your state government website. There you should find a section for home improvements or grants.
You can also contact your local Department of Human. They can sometimes provide a list of agencies that offer help with home repair grants since there are so many people in the United States that need help repairing their homes - not to make them more valuable but just to make them livable.
Home repair grants exist for these people who cannot afford to make their own repairs or for people who cannot get a loan due to bad credit or too much credit. They are set up to help the less fortunate and rather than those who are in a position to help themselves. You would be surprised at how many people try to get these grants to avoid repayment of a loan. That is why the process takes a while. To weed those people out.
I am looking for grant that will help getting a new central air unit in my home because of my medical condiction I am in need of the air, I also need a hot water heater before the one that I have goes out. I need to know where I can turn for the help for this things. I also have some problems with my bathrooms they leak and I am afraid that I will have a major mold problem if they are not taken care of soon. I bought this home for myself and 4 children and we do not have enought money to do the repairs that we need to have done. I need the air unit for the medical problem that I have and I need to know where to turn to? I would really like it if I could hear back from some one to help make my family’s life a little easier and take some of the stresses of owning a home. I need help with my home. to weatherize it. The roof leaks. It needs doors outside. It needs to have the ceiling put up. My husband has COPD and He and I are on limited income.
