Country and Rustic Chandeliers
Candles are the perfect way to create a country look. However, in a chandelier they can be very dangerous. They are also time consuming to light and replace and somewhat messy, leaving drippings on the floor and smoke in the air. A better alternative is a country chandelier with electric lights that resemble real candles. Placed into a wagon wheel, this style of light can indeed give a very rustic look to your room.
If roosters are your thing, how about a chandelier which incorporates one. There are many online stores or craft fairs where these lights are usually available. If you live near an Amish flea market, this type of lighting could probably be found there. Many other decor items with a rooster motif are readily available which would easily fit into the rest of your room, giving it a unique country theme.
Maybe you're really creative and want to build your own chandelier. If that's the case, a perfect way to do this is to create a web of small tree limbs for the base of the light fixture, then wind the necessary wiring around the twigs so that individual lights can be located throughout the base structure. Letting a twig stick out here or there makes the whole chandelier look like a natural canopy of trees on your ceiling. Find all the necessary wiring and lights by taking a trip to your local home improvement store. They may even be able to give you tips on installing your twig chandelier.
A rustic chandelier, whether purchased or something you create yourself, is a wonderful way to create a country-style atmosphere in your home, even if you live in the city. Adding antiques, items with farm or animal themes, quilts or crocheted throws, or items used in pioneer days, will continue this style and make your home the relaxing, comfortable nest you deserve.
