I have a house full of kids and pets, so you can imagine what my carpets must look like. Between my dogs tracking in dirt and mud from the yard and my kids spilling juice and ice cream, not a day goes by but I have to clean up some kind of major mess. If I got to the mess on time, I could usually prevent the stain from setting in, but sometimes one or two messes slipped by me for a while. When that happened, I would have to run out to rent one of those steam cleaners to treat the stain. This started happening so often that I decided it would be better to get my own Bissell Green Machine so I could have it on hand at all times.

The Bissell Green is available in two sizes, and I chose the smaller one. It was far more compact than the larger one, which made it perfect for use on my stairs and even in my car. Since I frequently have to transport my kids and dogs from one place to another, my car is not immune to spills and stains. With a Bissell Green Machine, I wouldn't have to take my vehicle to a professional car care service center anymore, so that was another incentive to buy.

I ended up ordering from a discount website that offered free shipping with the purchase. Once it arrived a few days later, I couldn't wait to begin using it. I decided to test it on an old grape juice stain that I hadn't quite been able to completely remove with my regular chemical cleaners. After waiting a while for the Machine to heat up, I attacked the stain. I was shocked to see that the Bissell Green Machine thoroughly removed the stain quickly and easily! I mean, I expected the product to work on fresh stains, but I had no idea that it would be effective on ones that had set in long ago.

After using my Bissell Green for a couple of weeks, my carpets look almost brand new! All the old stains are gone, and I don't ever have to worry about new ones again. The Bissell Green Machine has succeeded in giving me fantastic looking carpets as well as peace of mind. I wouldn't trade it in for anything else!

However, before you decide to push through with a project that most homeowners consider high on their priorities for improving their home, considering the problems with remodeling baths is a must.

The first problem to encounter isn’t necessarily during the implementation of the project but in planning how you would implement the project. Remodeling a bathroom can be done as a turnkey project, self-contract or a do-it-yourself project.

A turnkey project means that you hire a contractor to carry out your plans for remodeling. The contractor provides the experience with renovation and the connections to subcontractors for electricity, water and other essentials to renovation. However, problems with remodeling baths can still come up even with a contractor involved. Some contractors would leave the final parts of the project up to the homeowner, like the final details of design and you may find yourself going to a Lowe's home improvement store, for example, to source your materials.

A self-contract means that you will be your own contractor. Although this saves more money, this also means that there is less experience involved and fewer connections to exercise and finish the project. I lived and worked in Japan for several years right after I graduated from school. I wanted to do a bit of traveling, experience a different culture, and pay off my student loans before settling into a more permanent career. While I was over there, I fell in love with the Japanese style of interior design. I liked how simple and functional everything was, and I especially liked the tatami mats that were used on the floors in some rooms of the home.

Tatami mats are made of woven straw, and each one is approximately six feet long by three feet wide. They are remarkably durable and versatile, which is why they are still so widely used today. Since they are very sturdy yet extremely comfortable, many people choose to set their futon mattresses on this type of surface rather than on wooden floors or even carpeted areas.

When I moved back to the United States, I decided to decorate my home in full Japanese style. I went all out by purchasing shoji screens, low furniture, and special cushions for sitting on the floor. Despite all of these accessories, my home didn't quite have the authentic feel that I was going for. Something was missing, and I soon knew what it was. I needed to put tatami mats in a couple of my rooms.

The stores that I bought my furniture from didn't carry tatami mats, so I was worried that I might have to order them directly from Japan. I'm sure that would have been extremely costly due to the high shipping charges that I would get stuck with. I only wanted to consider that option as a last resort, so before getting on the phone to Japan I decided to shop online.

To my relief, I was able to find many websites specializing in Japanese decor. A good number of these had authentic tatami mats for sale at very reasonable prices. I had a couple of installation and maintenance questions that I wanted answered before actually placing my order, so I emailed one of the stores in the hopes of getting some answers. I received a very informative and favorable reply in just a few hours, so I placed my order shortly thereafter.

I've had beautiful these mats in my house for several months now, and I absolutely love them! I always get a lot compliments from my guests about the distinctive style and look of my home, and I just know it's because of them. In fact, I'm so happy with the way things turned out that I'm planning on changing the flooring in a couple more rooms in the near future. Who knows, maybe I'll end up having tatami mats throughout my entire home someday.
